The Limb Preservation Foundation Receives $30,000 Donation from AlloSource
LITTLETON, CO – May 11, 2021 – The Limb Preservation Foundation (LPF) received a $30,000 donation from AlloSource, a leading nonprofit provider of tissue donations used by surgeons to heal their patients. The donation will support the Limb Preservation Foundation’s patient assistance program, research initiatives and 2021 events.
“AlloSource has been a generous partner to the Limb Preservation Foundation since 2002,” said LPF Executive Director Marcy Rubic. “We are deeply appreciative of their support, which helps us to provide critical assistance to patients facing limb threatening conditions.”
The Limb Preservation Foundation enhances the quality of life for those confronting limb-threatening conditions. Since its founding in 1986, LPF has provided more than $2 million in financial assistance to help more than 1,800 patients cover medical and living expenses while undergoing treatment. The independent nonprofit serves patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
“We are proud to support the important work of the Limb Preservation Foundation,” said AlloSource President and CEO Tom Cycyota. “Through the gift of tissue donation, we can provide life-saving allografts to help patients heal while remaining committed to limb salvage and preservation through the great work that LPF does.”
An estimated 2.1 million Americans are living with limb loss and 36% of those suffer from depression, according to the Amputee Coalition. Limb loss can not only take a toll on an individual’s mental health, but can also create financial challenges. People with limb loss pay nearly $150,000 more in lifetime healthcare costs than their counterparts without limb loss, reported the coalition. Hospital costs associated with amputation total more than $8 million dollars each year.
