Volunteering is an excellent way to improve your health and happiness. The Limb Preservation Foundation offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule. Giving to others can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. We hope to hear from you soon!
Patient Support and Interaction
In-Hospital Patient Visits – The Foundation operates a patient visit program with Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver. Trained Limb Preservation Foundation volunteers provide a peer visit to patients who are experiencing limb trauma or loss. Typically, the volunteer has personally experienced a limb-threatening condition or is close to someone who has, so a common bond can form. The volunteer provides a gift bag filled with hospital essentials to make the stay more pleasant. The volunteer shares information on how the Limb Preservation Foundation can be of assistance after their hospital stay. The volunteer can play an important role by simply sharing a personal story and giving the patient a vision of a hopeful future.
Volunteer Drivers - Every day limb patients need rides to treatment, but some may not have a way to get there. We are creating a fleet of volunteer drivers to provide transportation to and from treatment for patients who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves.
Lead Volunteers - We are seeking two- to three lead volunteers to help us refine and organize our management systems for volunteers. We are seeking a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week for this role.
Office Assistance – The Foundation appreciates help with mailings and periodic projects involving office and computer work.
Donor Stewardship – Demonstrating our gratitude to Limb Preservation Foundation donors is very important. This committee helps to show supporters they are deeply valued by writing handwritten thank you notes and placing thank you calls to donors. Phone scripts, notecards and related materials will be supplied to volunteers.
Exhibit Volunteers This role is perfect for people who want to help The Foundation intermittently by representing our organization at health fairs. This volunteer will pick up brochures, display and giveaway items prior to the health fair event. S/he will answer questions and provide the foundation with contact information collected during the event.
Scholarship Committee – The Foundation provides college and graduate school scholarships to patients and/or survivors who have battled or are battling a limb-threatening condition. Volunteers who serve on this committee participate in the scholarship selection process.
Patient Assistance Committee - The Foundation works with a committee of individuals who review requests for patient assistance funds, which are initiated through social workers and hospital personnel. Committee members become knowledgeable with the LPF assistance guidelines and act as a review committee for requests.
Special Skills – The Foundation seeks assistance from people with expertise and experience with grant writing, legal work, social work/psychology. Projects for experts with these skills will be tailored to your availability and interests.
